  • Description

Saudi Arabia's Oil Minister Sheikh Ahmed Zaki Al-Yamani told reporters in Washington on Wednesday (December 5) how he thought the Arab oil embargo of the west could end.

Sheikh Yamani was in the United States to talk with American Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.

After his meeting with Dr. Kissinger, Sheikh Yamani said there might be reason during the Geneva peace conference which starts on December 18 for Arab oil nations to step up supplies to the west.

Saudi Arabia has imposed a total ban on oil deliveries to the United States. North America was already suffering from a petrol shortage because of rising demand and inadequate refining facilities, and lorry drivers protesting against price increase of diesel fuel and new speed limits have blocked highways in four states with their vehicles.

Sheikh Yamani has toured European countries and he may go on to Japan in his mission to inform the world of the Arab viewpoint on the oil embargo.
