  • Description

For the first time, Czechoslovak Olympic Campion Jiri Raska won the demanding Schanzentornee international ski jump competition in Bischofsshofen on Wednesday (6 January), and he won it without winning any of the four individual competitions. Three second places were enough. Moral victor was the young Norwegian Mork, who won three, but had victory escape him due to an unfortunate fall in Innsbruck.

The competition consists of four parts, in four ski centres in Germany and Austria. Mork was outright winner in Obersdorf, Garmisch and Bischofshofen, but on the jump in Innsbruck he crashed, thus ending his hopes of being the first champion to win all the competitions outright.

At Bischofshofen, Ingolf Mork had a best jump of 102.5 metres and total points (which take style into consideration) of 241.2. Jiri Raska was only 2.5 metres behind him, and was given 238.9 points. But in the four competitions Raska got 948 points, and Mork only 940.9. Third was another Czech, Zbynek Hubac.
