    BRITISH ROYAL MARINES HELPED BACK UP THE CEASEFIRE AND DUSK-TO-DAWN CURFEW IMPOSED BY THE FEDERAL ARMY.

    ADEN WAS REPORTED QUIET LAST NIGHT FOLLOWING TWO DAYS OF NATIONALIST GUNFIGHTS IN THE STREETS AND ACROSS ROOFTOPS WHICH HAVE LEFT AT LEAST 59 ARABS DEAD AND 200 WOUNDED.

    FEDERAL TROOPS WERE ORDERED TO FIRE BACK YESTERDAY AFTER THEY CAME UNDER FIRE FROM NATIONALIST GUNS FOR THE FIRST TIME.

    THE FIGHTING BROKE OUT ON FRIDAY (NOVEMBER 3) HOURS AFTER BRITAIN ANNOUNCED THAT IT WAS BRINGING FORWARD SOUTH ARABIA'S INDEPENDENCE DATE FROM JANUARY 9TH TO THE LATTER HALF OF THIS MONTH.

    THE SOUTH ARABIAN ARMED FORCES COMMAND HAS GIVEN THE NATIONALISTS A 72-HOUR ULTIMATUM -- UNTIL EARLY TUESDAY MORNING (NOVEMBER 7) -- TO REMOVE ALL ARMS FROM THE MAIN TROUBLESPOTS LIKE SHEIKH OTHMAN, AL MANSOURA AND STEAMER POINT DISTRICTS.
