He has come to Uruguay to work with you toward improving your agriculture, the same way he has helped my country. I pray the kidnappers will realise the course they have taken is not reasonable, and that they will consider the humane and generous achievements of this man. Please let no harm come to him. This man who has dedicated his life to helping others. His loving daughter, Maurita.

Background: Mrs. Maurita Kane, daughter of the U.S. soil expert and agricultural; consultant, Claude Fly, who is being held hostage by Tupamaros Guerrillas in Uruguay, has made an appeal for his release.
Anxiety for Mr. Fly's safety has mounted since his capture by the guerrillas last Friday (7 August). Another American hostage, Daniel Mitrione, was killed by the guerrillas on Monday (10 Aug) when the Uruguayan Government refused to release all political prisoners in exchange for their captive.
Mrs. Kane made her appeal on Tuesday (11 August) from her home in Seattle.
