Background: The Prime Minister of Afghanistan His Royal Highness Limer Ali Sardar Mohmad Daud arrive at the Palam airport of New Delhi on 5th February, 1959 where he was received by the Prime Minister of India Mr. Jawahar Lal Nehru, Mrs. Aruna Asaf Ali, Mayor of Delhi.
The President of India was represented by his Military Secretary. Later he was introduced to the Union Ministers of Cabinet. He inspected a guard of honour provided by the three wings of the defense forces and was then introduced to the members of the diplomat corps who were present in full strength. The airport was full of crowds and Afghan nationals old and young. Children presented gim with Bouques while elder Afghan nationals garlanded him. He drove to Rashtrapati Bhavan from the airport.
Later during the day he visited the Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat and placed wreaths on the Samadhi and paid homage to the father of the Indian Nation. Mr. Daud is on a eight day tour of India on the official invitation of the Government of India. During his stay he will be visiting the Taj at Agra, Community development villages, Steel Works at Jamshedpur,Sindrl Fertiliser factory, Atomic Energy Establishment and Aaarey Milk Colony at Bombay. He flew to Delhi in the Aryana Airlines Dakota.
Form Delhi onwards he travels in the Russian TU104 which was presented to him by Russian Government. The Delhi corporation is according him a civic reception on 7th while earlier during that day he visits some of the villages of Community development planning.
