REPORTER: "IT SEEMS THAT THE SOUTH AFRICAN GOVERNMENT DELAYED THE TIME FOR THE EXTRADITION ORDER. WHY DO YOU THINK THIS IS?"

HIGGS: "I DIDN'T KNOW THAT SOUTH AFRICA HAD DELAYED IN SIGNING THE EXTRADITION ORDER. I DIDN'T KNOW THAT THEY HAD APPLIED FOR THE EXTRADITION ORDER UNTIL THE ZAMBIA MINISTER OF JUSTICE TOLD ME BEFORE I LEFT FOR LONDON."

REPORTER: "WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF YOU HAD BEEN EXTRADITED TO SOUTH AFRICA?"

HIGGS: "I DON'T KNOW. OF COURSE EXTRADITION MUST INVOLVE AN OFFENCE. I SHOULD IMAGINE I SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON TRIAL FOR AN OFFENCE."

REPORTER: "HOW HAS IT COME ABOUT THAT YOU WERE ALLEGEDLY CONCERNED WITH THE JOHANNESBURG RAILWAY STATION EXPLOSION?"

HIGGS: "I HAVE NO MEANS OF KNOWING AT ALL. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DETERMINE THE WORKINGS OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN GOVERNMENT'S MIND AT THIS STAGE."

REPORTER: "DID YOU HAVE ANY FEARS FOR YOUR FAMILY AFTER YOUR KIDNAPPING?"

HIGGS: "YES I DID. EVEN WHILE I WAS BEING KIDNAPPED MY WIFE GOT A BRIEF GLIMPSE OF THE KIDNAPPERS AND I WAS CONCERNED THAT THEY MIGHT THINK THAT SHE MIGHT BE A WITNESS AGAINST THEM."

REPORTER: "DID YOU THINK THEY MIGHT KIDNAP YOU AGAIN?"

HIGGS: "I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THEY WOULD TRY IT AGAIN, BUT I FELT INSECURE IN LUSAKA."

REPORTER: "HOW LONG ARE YOU GOING TO STAY IN ENGLAND?"

HIGGS: "WELL I SHOULD THINK NOT LESS THAN A YEAR AND A HALF. THE REASON FOR THIS IS, ??? I MENTIONED BEFORE, I WOULD LIKE TO GET BACK TO THE UNIVERSITY OF ZAMBIA WHEN IT OPENS UP IN 1966. THAT'S THE PROBABLE THING I'LL DO BUT OBVIOUSLY I CAN'T FORECAST THE SITUATION."
