    THE COMMANDER OF THE BASE, CAPTAIN PAUL GRAY, EXPLAINED THE WORK OF THE MINE-SWEEPERS TO THE NEWSMEN AND SHOWED THEM SOME OF THE DIFFERENT MINES FOUND IN THE LONG TAO RIVER, INCLUDING THE 1,000 LB SOVIET-MADE MINE.

    WHILE NEWSMEN WERE VISITING THE BASE, A SOUTH VIETNAMESE MINESWEEPER WAS SUNK BY A VIET CONG MINE. ONE AMERICAN ADVISER WAS REPORTED MISSING AND FIVE VIETNAMESE CREW WERE INJURED.
