Background: Young members of the Jewish Red Star organisation entered the offices of the Russian travel agency Intourist in London today (Tuesday) and protested against the treatment of Jews in the Soviet Union. They danced the "Hora" and sang Hebrew songs, the then staged a sit-down. They were finally dragged out by policemen, still singing.
The demonstration is one of several that have been taking place yesterday and today, organised by various Jewish organisations. The demonstrations are planned to coincide with the current official visit to Britain of Russian Foreign Minister Mr. Andrei Gromyko.
A spokesman for the Jewish organisations said that a programme of harassment aimed at Mr. Gromyko is going on 24 hours a day, culminating in a mass demonstration of Wednesday.
