TRANSCRIPT: SEQ. 4: HAILWOOD: "Now we're all fit again, and I thought I'd put the idea to a few people, which I did at Silverstone at the Grand Prix last year. And it went down very favourably with the people concerned, and it all snowballed rather nicely, and here we are with all beautiful machinery and back here all ready to go."

Background: Mike Hailwood, nine times world motorcycle champion, who left the sport 11 years ago for an ill-fated venture into Formula One car racing, is planning a comeback. Hailwood, who's 38, says he's been thinking of it for some time.

SYNOPSIS: When he makes his comeback attempt in June, he'll still be riding a Japanese motorcycle. although now a Yamaha instead of a Honda. He'll also be riding Ducati machines.

So, the man who took nine world championships in the 250, 350 and 500 c.c. classes, will be chasing the honours once more. And he's going to make his bid on the same course on which he made his last appearance in 1967....the Isle of Man.

IN traditional style, Hailwood won that race....and then announced he was quitting the sport for Formula One motor racing. But in 1974, that career came to an end in an accident during the German Grand Prix. So, why is he returning to motor cycles and every event in June's Manx TT.
