    THOUSANDS OF MEMBERS OF THE RIGHT-WING HINDU JAN SANGH PARTY, ON FRIDAY, MARCHED THROUGH THE STREETS OF CALICUT, KERALA, TO A SPECIALLY BUILT PAVILION, ERECTED ON A FOOTBALL GROUND. THE PARTY IS HOLDING IT'S ANNUAL MEETING AND THIS YEAR ATTRACTED A RECORD NUMBER OF DELEGATES.

    CROWDS THRONGED THE STREETS AS THE PROCESSION PASSED, WITH THE PRESIDENT IN THE CENTRE, ON A DECORATED JEEP.

    DURING HIS OPENING SPEECH, THE NEWLY ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE JAN SANGH, DEENDAYAL UPADHAYAYA, TOLD DELEGATES THAT CHINA AND PAKISTAN WERE PREPARING CONCERTED AGGRESSION, WHICH INDIA SHOULD MEET BY A NUCLEAR DEFENCE PROGRAMME. HE ALSO CALLED FOR RECOGNITION OF TAIWAN AND THE ESTABLISHMENT OF DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS WITH ISRAEL, REGARDLESS OF WHAT ARAB NATIONS MIGHT SAY.

    THE RETIRING PRESIDENT, MR BALRAJ MADHOK SAID THAT INDIA HAD LOST 60,000 SQUARE MILES TO AGGRESSORS. HE SAID THAT THE JAN SANGH IS DETERMINED TO RECOVER THE LOST TERRITORIES.

    THE JAN SANGH, THE PARTY OF HINDU ORTHODOXY, WON 35 SEATS IN THE CENTRAL PARLIAMENT IN LAST FEBRUARY'S GENERAL ELECTIONS.
