    THE LATEST MOVES TO ADMIT THE CHINESE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC TO THE UNITED NATIONS WERE BACKED BY BRITAIN AT THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY YESTERDAY (WEDNESDAY). BRITISH AMBASSADOR LORD CARADON SAID HIS COUNTRY LOOKED FORWARD TO THE TIME WHEN THE "OVERWHELMING" MAJORITY OF MEMBER STATES WOULD VOTE FOR CHINA'S ADMISSION.

    LORD CARADON FELT THAT THE CONTINUED EXCLUSION OF CHINA COULD ONLY DO GREAT HARM TO THE UNITED NATIONS.

    HIS SPEECH WAS INTERPRETED AS AN INDICATION THAT BRITAIN WOLD SUPPORT THE 15-NATION RESOLUTION CALLING FOR ADMISSION -- PROVIDING A TWO-THIRDS MAJORITY OF THE 126-NATION GENERAL ASSEMBLY VOTES IN FAVOUR OF THE PROPOSAL:
