Background: The English First Division soccer club Tottenham Hotspur won the U.E.F.A. -- Union of European Football Associations -- Cup in London tonight (May 17). In the second leg of the final against Wolverhampton Wanderers--another English first division side -- they drew I-I, which, following their 2-I victory in the first leg on May 3, gave them an aggregate winning score of 3-2.
Both goals were scored int eh first half, and both followed free kicks. For "Spurs" Alan Mullery headed in Peters' cross; for "Wolves" it was Wagtaffe who put the ball in after at est three of his team-mates had tried shots.
Spure become the first winners of the UEFA cup, and now join Liverpool, Manchester City and Stoke City as England's representatives in next year's competition.
