    TRANSCRIPT: Mr. Antonin Novotny: "Mr. President! Comrades! Dear friends!

    Allow me to convey you and the working people of the Hungarian People's Republic the warm greetings of the people of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, the Central Committee of the Czechoslovak Communist Party and the Cabinet of our Republic."

    "We are very glad - he said - that we were able to pay a visit to your country, that we were able to get acquainted with your working people, to strengthen and further cultivate the old friendship.

    "Our negotiations were fruitful for both parties.

    "In all questions we discussed we were of the same opinion and have reached a mutual agreement.

    "Our common aim and wish is that the socialist countries go ahead in strong unity on the victorious road toward communism."

    Long live the friendship between the peoples of the Hungarian People's Republic and the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic!"

    Background: President Novotny in the Parliament
    The Friday-session of the Hungarian Parliament was also attended by Mr. Antonin Novotny, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Czechoslovak Communist Party, President of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. He addressed the Parliament.

    Then Mr. Novotny praised the deepening friendship and the comeradly cooperation between the two countries. He emphasized that the friendly relations between the Hungarian and Czechoslovak workers have begun at the time of the class struggles against the bourgeoisie, but have fully developed only after the liberation.

    President Novotny at Mezohegyes
    Thursday morning a big crowd assembled at the Mezohegyes railway station to welcome President Novotny and his attendance who came to visit the State Farm of Mezohegyes. In behalf of the workers of the country Mr. Matyas Klauko, First secretary of the Country Committee of the Party, greeted the guests.

    This time not an automobile but the famous five-horse carriage took the Czechoslovak guests to the centre of the State Farm.

    Here they learned about the history of the 170-year old farm, about its results, then they were showed around. President Novotny was very much interested in the growth of the horned cattle stock as well as in details of the plant cultivation of the farm.

    Finally, the best horses of the Mezohegyes stud were led out, and a little horse-show was improvised for the guests.

    After the short visit President Novotny and his attendance returned to Budapest.

    Czechoslovak-Hungarian agreement
    After conclusion of the Czechoslovak-Hungarian discussions Mr. Janos Kadar and President Novotny signed a mutual communique in the reception room of the Presidential Council.

    On this act the personalities accompanying President Novotny as well as several leading members of the Party and of the Cabinet of the Hungarian People's Republic were present.

    Departure of President Novotny
    Friday afternoon a crowd of several thousands gathered at the West Railway Terminus to bid farewell to the Czechoslovak guests.

    Mr. Antonin Novotny accompanied by Mr. Janos Kadar and Karoly Kiss inspected the guard of honour.

    In his farewell address President Novotny praised the strengthening friendship between the two countries.

    In his reply Mr. Kadar spoke about our common aims, and our common point of view in international questions.

    On their special train several leaders of the Hungarian state and party accompanied Mr. Novotny and his attendance to the Hungarian border.
