  • Description

African nations were well represented at the Trade Fair which opened in Paris on Saturday April 25.

This year the Paris Trade Fair is based on the theme of home improvements and leisure activities-tourism, fishing, camping, yachting and do-it-yourself activities.

These are all fields in which Africa, with its vast range of scenery, outdoor facilities and its modern-day architecture specially suited for tropical climates, can show a lead. And Africa was anxious to show its desire to cooperate with the European Economic Community.

African sculptures and designs which are having a vogue in Europe are likely to attract many visitors and the African stands were all lavishly furnished with some of the most striking examples of local crafts and artistic works.

Senegal, Madagascar, Cameroun, Niger, Tunisia and Morocco were among the countries represented. But the largest pavilion was East Germany's. Thirty foreign nations in all are exhibiting at the Fair.

The emphasis is on better living for tomorrow. And the Fair will be open until May 10.
