Background: A bomb severely damaged the Iranian consulate in San Francisco early on Friday morning (October 15). The attack, which caused damage estimated at over one hundred thousand dollars (about GBP33,000 sterling), coincided with the current celebrations in Iran to mark 25 centuries of Persian civilisation. The attack took place shortly after mid-night. No-one was injured, but damage was estimated by firemen at over one hundred thousand dollars (about GBP33,000 sterling). The following morning the area--in an exclusive part of the City--was cordoned off by police as investigators and detectives set to work searching for evidence.
