Greek security police have arrested eight Greeks on charges of conspiring to bomb public buildings and kidnap prominent Greeks. The suspected anarchists are also accused of planning to kidnap John Kennedy, son of the late President of the United States.
Four Germans have also been arrested and charged with plotting to abduct German-born Edith Economy, claimed to be a loading member of an international extremist organisation.
The eight Greeks will appear before the Athens Special Court Martial at a date to be specified. The indictment states that all eight were members of the 'New Left', a 'Tupamaros-style' organisation which aims at the destruction of the present government in Greece. It alleges that the group had planned a series of robberies and kidnappings for ransom to finance their anarchist activities.
This official film shows the twelve persons in the Athens Security Police Headquarters. We must apologise for the poor technical quality of some of the sequences.
