    BRITISH RACING DRIVER GRAHAM HILL TODAY (WEDNESDAY) HAD A SNEAK PREVIEW OF A "CAR OF THE FUTURE" THAT IS NOT LIKELY TO BE SEEN ON ANY RACE TRACK - OR AT ANY MOTOR SHOW. THE CAR, BUILT FOR A SPACE-AGE FILM, COST GBP10,000 TO PRODUCE. BUT IT'S NOT FOR SALE.

    THE SNEAK PREVIEW WAS HELD AT LONDON'S HILTON HOTEL, AND ATTRACTED INTEREST FROM INTRIGUED PASSERSBY WHO GLIMPSED THE GREY-PAINTED SUPER-SPORTS CAR.

    THE CAR, CALLED THE "DOPPELGANGER", WAS BUILT FOR A FILM OF THE SAME NAME BEING MADE AT PRESENT IN PORTUGAL BY SPACE-AGE PUPPET FILM PRODUCER GERRY ANDERSON.

    ACTRESS LONI VON FRIEDL, WHO HAS A LEADING PART IN THE FILM, WAS ALSO AT THE PREVIEW WITH GRAHAM HILL.

    THE CAR, A FOUR-SEATER, STANDS ONLY 44 INCHES (112 CMS) HIGH, AND IS CAPABLE OF SPEEDS OF UP TO 140 MILES (225 KMS) AN HOUR. IT IS BASED ON A FORD CHASSIS AND IS POWERED BY A FORD ENGINE.

    IT WAS BUILT BY ALAN MANN RACING OF BYFLEET IN THREE MONTHS.
