  • Description

The Prime Minister of Quebec, M. Robert Bourassa, ended a two-day visit to Brussels on Tuesday (23 April) after talks with Belgian government leaders, executives of the European Economic Community, Belgian businessmen, and with king Baudouin of Belgium.

    M. Bourassa, who's 37, is the youngest-ever Prime Minister of Quebec. His current European tour has already taken to Sweden, and after Belgium he will visit West Germany and Switzerland.

    M. Bourassa's talks with the Belgian Prime Minister, M. Leburton, strengthened the growing ties between Quebec and Belgium. The Canadian province has maintained a mission in Brussels for the last year-and-a half.

The Quebec Minister was also due to have talks with the President of the European Economic Community Commission, M. Francois-Xavier Ortoli, about the relationship between Canada and the E.E.C. since the Treaty of Rome.

    M. Bourassa was also granted an audience with king Baudouin of Belgium during his visit.
