    Background: Ex-King Leopold of Belgium, touring India with his wife, Princess de Rethy, and his niece, visited a Belgian Leprosy Hospital in Madras State, March 2.

    Leopold founded this hospital, where a staff of Belgian and Indian doctors now fight side by side to eradicate leprosy - still all too common in the East. Some of the Belgian doctors, who have worked here for many years, wear the national dress of their Indian colleagues.

    The royal couple, talked to patients and tried on surgical dress; earlier, ex-King Leopold shot some photos of the hospital.
