SYNOPSIS: Commonwealth High Commissioners met in London on Thursday to discuss the current talks between Britain and Rhodesia aimed at ending the Rhodesian constitutional deadlock. African and Asian heads of missions have registered some uneasiness about the talks which Britain's emissary Lord Goodman held recently with Rhodesian leader Ian Smith.

The diplomats form the Commonwealth Sanctions-against-Rhodesia committee. The three-hour meeting was their first for a year, but they agreed to meet again in the near future.

During the meeting, delegates recalled that the Commonwealth leaders at their conference in Singapore had re-affirmed the principle that any proposal for a settlement must be acceptable to all Rhodesians, including the five million Africans. The delegates sought, and received British assurances that there would be no constitutional agreement which was not acceptable to black and white Rhodesians. The diplomats also urged action to plug gaps in the sanctions wall.
