Background: About 175 Cambodians including women and children last night arrived at Srisiket Police Station for shelter and refuge. They said fighting around the their town in Ban Phai located around the Kheo Veharn Temple ruins, is very intensive and it is nor safe for them to live in their area hence they have sought to seek refuge. They Arrived here on the 2nd. July night after trekking from Khao Veharn temple ruins and they are being sheltered in the Srisiket Police station now. The refugees said fighting in that area is very intensive and the Viet Cong will occupy the area soon. More refugees are on their way to thai border side and some of the Cambodian soldiers are already evacuating the area. Some have even crossed into Thai border for refuge. These are the first pictures of the Cambodian National refugees ever taken in Thai side.
Intensive shelling is going on at the Thai Cambodian side and the famous ruins of the Khao Veharan are now closed to the pilgrims. The area is now under army control. Earlier this cameraman sent to Hongkong film of the famous khao Veharn temple ruins. They are the equivalent in archaeological beauty to that of Ankor Wat. Also included in the film are Srisiket police station and Refugees shelter building and Srisiket railway station sign.
