  • Description

The Warren Commission Report presented to President Johnson Thursday (24 September ) is a massive document estimated to contain a little more than a quarter of a million cords.

The report includes a book-length synopsis of Kennedy's assassination and the events leading to the subsequent murder of Lee Harvey Oswald.

Release of the report has started one of the most furious races in publishing history to get the report into print.

In Chicago, the race is being run at the W.P. Hall Printing Company which will print paperback copies of the report for Bantam Pocketbook Publishers. The firm began actual production of the report in June when the book's covers started rolling off the presses. But starting Friday afternoon (25 September) when the report becomes available to the publishers about 150 people will start around-the-clock work setting type. The publishers expect to have the book on the streets late Tuesday night (29 September). The firm expects to have a first run of one-half million copies, a feat which usually takes a month's work.

The report will be officially released Sunday.
