    President Joseph Mobutu, on a week-long visit to Taiwan, toured a Sing-African Agriculture Training Centre and later met the Taiwan leader, Generalissimo Chiang Kai-Shek The two Heads of State agreed to increase cooperation between their two countries. In an apparent reference to the recent developments in the foreign relations of the People's Republic of China, President Mobutu, whose country has given consistent support for Taiwan in the United Nations, said "once we have a commitment to a certain country, it can hardly be changed."
    SYNOPSIS: President Joseph Mobutu of Congo-Kinshasa has just Finished a week-long visit to Taiwan. Here accompanied by his wife, the President gets a warm welcome on his way to visit a Sino-African Agriculture Training Centre. It is a sugar refinery - an example of the cooperation between Taiwan and Africa.

    President Mobutu spent three days of his visit touring such development programmes on the island. Later, President Mobutu described Taiwan's agricultural achievements as a miracle.. and said that the Congo could borrow much of Taiwan's experience in Agricultural development.

    President Mobutu also said that his country would welcome foreign investment, both capital and technical. The most useful form of cooperation for Congo-Kinshasa, he said, was help in exploiting the country's natural resources.

    It was later reported that Taiwan will step up its agricultural cooperation with the Congo as a result of President Mobutu's visit......and also that the Congo may ask the Taiwan government to enlarge their farming team in the Congo to help in the cultivation of rice, corn and cotton.

    After his visit to some of the development projects on the island. President Mobutu went to the residence of Generallisimo Chiang Kai-Shek for talks with the Taiwan Head of State.

    At the residence, the two leaders reached broad agreement on cooperation in many fields. The meeting here lasted 90 minutes....their second during this visit.

    The Taiwan leader asked President Mobutu about the recent developments in the foreign policy of the People's Republic of China. President Mobutu, whose country has given consistent support to Taiwan in the United Nations, replied "Once we have a commitment to a certain country, it can hardly be changed."
