    A DAY IN THE KENYA COUNTRYSIDE FOR 50 DELEGATES FROM THE U.N. FOOD AND AGRICULTURAL ORGANISATION, WHO ARE ATTENDING A MONTH-LONG SEMINAR IN NAIROBI ON THE MARKETING PROBLEMS OF AFRICA'S STAPLE FOOD CROPS.

    THEY'VE RECENTLY SPENT A DAY VISITING THE TALA MARKET NEAR THE TOWN O KANGUNDO. THEIR HOST FOR THE OCCASION, MR. PAUL NGEI, MEMBER OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY AND THE CHAIRMAN OF THE MAIZE MARKETING BOARD.

    AFTER LOOKING ROUND THE MARKET AND MEETING INDIVIDUAL SALESMEN, THE DELEGATES WERE INTRODUCED TO THE CROWD, WITH THE AID OF A FRENCH INTERPRETER. QUITE A NUMBER OF THE DELEGATES COME FROM FRENCH-SPEAKING AFRICA. THERE ARE ALSO A NUMBER OF REPRESENTATIVES FROM BASUTOLAND, INCLUDING REPUBLIC OF TANGANYIKA AND ZANZIBAR. BUT NO MATTER WHICH PART OF THE CONTINENT THEY COME FROM, ALL APPRECIATED THE DISPLAY OF DANCING BY THE KAMBA DANCERS.
