  • Description

Hau Nghia Province, lying between Saigon and the Khmer border, used to be a hotspot of Vietcong activity in earlier days of the Vietnam war. Now it is claimed as an area where pacification has succeeded.

As the New Year truce came into effect, South Vietnamese troops and villagers mingled happily in the village of Tan Phu, as a traditional "dragon" dance through the village. In the past year the villagers in this area have reportedly enjoyed a good rice harvest, so they have prosperity as well as security to celebrate.
