    FRANCE LAST THURSDAY (JANUARY 2) SIGNED FOUR AID AGREEMENTS WITH THE IVORY COAST TOTALLING 655,215,000 CFA FRANCS (ABOUT ONE MILLION POUNDS STERLING) UNDER ITS AID AND CO-OPERATION SCHEME FOR AFRICAN COUNTRIES.

    THE SIGNING CEREMONY TOOK PLACE AT THE IVORY COAST MINISTRY OF FINANCE AND ECONOMIC AFFAIRS AND THE CHIEF SIGNATORIES WERE FINANCE MINISTER M. KONAN BEDIE, FOR THE IVORY COAST, AND M.MORETTE BOURNY, HEAD OF THE FRENCH AID AND CO-OPERATION MISSION, WHO ALSO REPRESENTED THE FRENCH GOVERNMENT.

    SEVERAL ECONOMIC AND TECHNICAL PROJECTS ARE COVERED IN THE AGREEMENTS, INCLUDING THE BUILDING OF A NEW BRIDGE AT ABIDJAN, THE PROVISION OF A REACTOR FOR THE ATOMIC STUDY CENTRE, REFRIGERATION PLANTS AT ABIDJAN AND BOUAKE AND THE FINANCING OF URBAN STUDY PROJECTS AND ADVANCED EDUCATIONAL AIDS.

    THE IVORY COAST WILL PAY YEARLY INTEREST OF TWO PER CENT ON THE AID.
