    THERE HE NET PRESIDENT JOHNSON AND HELD BRIEF NEWS CONFERENCE. ROCKEFELLER WAS THE FIRST TEPUBLICIAN PRESIDENTIAL HOPEFUL TO ACCEPT MR JOHNSON'S OFFER OF AN INTELLIGENCE BRIEFING ON FOREIGN POLICY AND DEFENCE AT THE STATE DEPARTMENT. THE BRIEFING, WHICH PRECEDED THE WHITE HOUSE VISIT, WAS CONDUCTED BY SECRETARY OF STATE DEAN RUSK, DEFENCE SECRETARY MCNAMARA AND JOHN MCCONE, DIRECTOR OF THE CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE AGENCY.
