    British competitor who used an unusual method of arriving in Central London was a B.O.A.C. comet pilot, Brian Neely, making a private attempt. He'd flown from france in a Meteor borrowed from the Belgian Government. A helicopter dropped him on Hungerford Bridge (the Charing Cross railway bridge) British Railways had arranged to cut off the current in the lines for three minutes. From the bridge Mr. Neely slip down a rope to the Embankment for the final motor cycle dash to Marble Arch. He was once a film stunt man. His time from Arch to Arch -- fifty-seven minutes, twenty-eight seconds.
