The Gambian President and his delegation are expected to discuss the Middle East situation and African topics of mutual interest during the visit. At Tuesday's meeting, Egyptian Foreign Minister Mahmoud Riad also joined the discussions.
SYNOPSIS: Cairo's Kubbeh Palace, where Gambian President Jawara and his official delegation on Tuesday met President Anwar Sadat of the Arab Republic. President Sadat was accompanied by his Foreign minister Mahmoud Riad for the discussions with the Gambian leader.
President Jawara is in the United Arab Republic for a week-long official visit. He is expected to discuss the Middle East situation during the visit, and also the question of African affairs which affect both Egypt and Gambia. The Gambian President had arrived at Cairo airport the day before and both sides had agreed to start discussions as quickly as possible. Also in the Egyptian delegation was Mr. Aly Waaly, the United Arab Republic Minister of State Petroleum.
