    Government ministers, military leaders and members of bereaved families assembled at the Military Cemetery, Mount Herzl, Jerusalem, on Tuesday (Feb 22) to pay tribute to Israeli troops whose burial places are unknown.

    More than 250 soldiers who have fallen since the Israeli state was established have no known burial place. They include submariners, air force pilots, and the Cairo spy trial group executed in 1954.

    SYNOPSIS: At the Military Cemetery on Mount Herzl, Jerusalem, on Tuesday a ceremony for troops with no Known Orayes.

    A pool of water symbolises the last resting place of soldiers lost at sea during the Second World War, and on special missions since that time.

    Elsewhere in the cemetery bereaved relatives mourned at tombstones symbolising the graves of some 250 men who have fallen since israel was established: among them the Cairo spy trial group executed in 1954.

    Government leaders and others attending the ceremony included Defence Minister Moshe Dayan, and Deputy Prime Minister Igal Allon.

    A bereaved mother lit a memorial flams to all those commemorated at the ceremony, a bugler sounded a military tribute, and prayers were said. The Minister of Communications, Mr Shimon Peres, then addressed the assembled mourners. Tuesday was the accepted anniversary of the death of Moses, whose burial place is also unknown.
