Background: A party of anti-nuclear campaigners from the other side of the Atlantic - the "San Francisco to Moscow Walk for Peace" - arrived in London June 1 from America on the second leg of a walk to Moscow which started from San Francisco last September.

The demonstrators - comprising eight women and five men, aged between 18 and 47 - were met at London Airport by about 24 British members of anti H-Bomb and pacifist organisations.

In pouring rain the marchers set off, with anti-nuclear placards unfurled, for Turnham Green where they were due to stay the night. Their visit to London will include a "sit-down" demonstration outside the Defence Ministry on June 3 and a Trafalgar Square rally the next day.

Then they start their 1,600-mile trek to Moscow through France, Belgium and Germany.
