  • Description

A funeral service for the Grand Duchess Olga - last of the Romanov dynasty of Imperial Russia - was held in Toronto, Nov. 30. The daughter of Czar Alexander III of Russian died at her home in the small Ontario town of Cooksville, not far from Toronto, where she lived for the past twelve years.

Her coffin was surrounded by wreaths sent from all parts of the world. Many came from reigning monarchs. The pall bearers included members of the 12th Bussars of which she was colonel-in-chief.

Exiled officers of the Imperial Russian Army formed a guard of honour.

The Grand Duchess Olga fled during the Russian October revolution of 1917 and lived in exile in Denmark until she went to Canada in 1948. She was buried in Toronto beside her husband, Colonel Koulikovsky, who died in 1958.
