Each party presented the views of its government, they have had a useful and full exchange of views on all the outstanding issues. The parties will be reporting to their heads of government and will be in contact and will discuss with the Secretary of State their views as to the next steps to be taken. DAYAN: The Secretary of State, Mr. Vance, and the Egyptian delegation led by the Prime Minister of Egypt, Mr. Khalil, and myself had an interesting meeting in which each party presented the view of its government in a neutral and full exchange of views on all the outstanding issues. Background: Israel's Prime Minister Menachem Begin has called a special cabinet session for Tuesday (26 December) to discuss the stalled Middle East peace talks with Egypt. Mr. Begin made his decision after Foreign Minister Moshe Dayan returned from Brussels and briefed him on his talks there with the Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Khalil and United States Secretary of State Cyrus Vance.

SYNOPSIS: Mr. Dayan said on his return to Israel that the differences between Israel and Egypt could be bridged if both sides agreed to compromise.
