    Leaders of the British, Northern Ireland and Irish Republic Labour Parties met in virtual "Socialist summit" in London on Wednesday (1 Sept). The subject of their talks was the situation in Northern Ireland.

    The meeting was chaired by the British Shadow Home Secretary, Mr James Callaghan. The Eire delegation was led by the former United Nations mediator in the Congo, Dr. Conor Cruise O'Brien.

    Members of the British Labour Party executive held separate talks with the representatives of the Northern Ireland and Eire parties.

    The delegates hoped to foster joint action in finding a solution to the trouble in Northern Ireland. Later they were joined at a working lunch by Labour Opposition leader Harold Wilson.
