  • Description

Streamers flew from high windows, and confetti was tossed onto the crowds from New York's skyscrapers Nov 2 as President Eisenhower rode up Broadway to give evidence of his support of Republican Nixon and Henry Cabot Lodge.

Spectators packed behind police barrier cheered, blew kisses, shouted, as the President and the man he hopes will succeed him arrived at Herald Square, sitting on the back of a convertible car.

Many spectators carried signs saying "welcome to our Country's first team."
Police variously estimated the crowds at 35,000 and 60,000. The confetti seemed thicker, more dense, than when Ike had his last 'ticker-tape' parade after his return from the Summit meeting.
