Background: President Moktar Ould Daddah of Mauritania accompanied by his wire and official party visited North Korea for three days last month.
They arrived at Pyongyang on 21 September after flying from Shengyang in the northeast of The People's Republic of China.
Thousands of North Koreans turned out to greet them and President and Madame Ould Daddah were met by North Korean President Kim Il Sung and his wife Kim Song Ae.
The Mauritanian delegation attended a banquet in their honour given by President Kim. During This President Kim reaffirmed that North Korea and Mauritania would cooperate further both politically and economically.
In his speech president Ould Daddah pledged his country's support for North Korean efforts to reunify their country.
The Mauritanians visited North Korea on President Kim's invitations and returned to Shanghai on 23 September, to continue their visit to China.
