    BRITISH PRIME MINISTER HAROLD WILSON SAID ON SUNDAY (25 JANUARY) THAT NIGERIA WOULD BE HIGH ON THE AGENDA OF HIS TALKS WITH MR. PIERRE TRUDEAU, HIS CANADIAN COUNTERPART. MR. WILSON ARRIVED IN OTTAWA, THE CANADIAN CAPITAL, AT THE START OF HIS NORTH AMERICAN VISIT.

    WHEN HE ARRIVED, THE PRIME MINISTER WAS GREETED BY CANADIAN EXTERNAL AFFAIRS MINISTER MITCHELL SHARP AND OTHER OFFICIALS. MR. WILSON, WHO TRAVELLED IN A ROYAL AIR FORCE VC-10, SPENT 20 HOURS IN OTTAWA BEFORE GOING ON TO NEW YORK ON MONDAY (26 JANUARY) AND WASHINGTON, D.C. FOR TALKS WITH PRESIDENT NIXON AND UNITED NATIONS SECRETARY GENERAL U THANT.

    THE PRIME MINISTER SAID THAT HIS VISIT WOULD INVOLVE FEWER BILATERAL PROBLEMS BETWEEN BRITAIN AND CANADA THAN HAD BEEN THE CASE ON PREVIOUS OCCASIONS.

    MR. WILSON ADDED THAT NIGERIA, WHICH "YOUR GOVERNMENT, MR, SECRETARY OF STATE, AND WE HAVE SOUGHT TO DO ALL WE CAN TO HELP," WOULD BE AN IMPORTANT TOPIC OF DISCUSSION. BOTH CANADA AND BRITAIN HAVE SENT RELIEF INCLUDING TRUCKS AND MEDICAL SUPPLIES FOR USE IN WAR-RAVAGED AREAS IN THE COUNTRY FOLLOWING THE COLLAPSE OF SECESSIONIST EASTERN NIGERIA.

    OFFICIALS HAVE SAID THAT THE VIETNAM WAR, THE MIDDLE EAST SITUATION, EUROPEAN SECURITY AND PROSPECTS FOR IMPROVING EAST-WEST RELATIONS WOULD ALSO BE DISCUSS BY THE TWO PREMIERS, AS WELL AS BILATERAL TRADE.
