  • Description

Some of the fifty-six survivor of Tuesday's (18th April) jetliner crash in Addis Ababa descended from another East African Airways aircraft at Nairobi Airport yesterday (19th April).

They were led off the aircraft by the Director-General of East African Airways (EAA), Mr. Okot. Survivors included a mother -- Mrs. Ifat Amin -- and her seven-month-old son. Our reporter interviewed EAA Director of Operations, Captain Trevor Hill -- one of the investigation team that arrived in Addis Ababa hours after the crash -- as he walked to the terminal building.

Captain Hill said that he could not make any detailed comment on the cause of the Addis Ababa crash, but some reports say the aircraft appeared to crash off the end of the runway after a tyre had burst on take-off.
