Background: Highlights of Soviet Premier Khrushchev's second day in Paris, France, Mar 24, were lunch with French Premier Debre, and a dinner for President de Gaulle at the Quai d'Orsay. Meanwhile, Mrs. Khrushchev and her three step-daughters went on a shopping expedition.

At the Hotel Matignon, official residence of M. Debre, Mr. Khrushchev denied he wanted to separate France from her Western allies. He wanted all round agreement among powers, and suggested a non-aggression pact between NATO countries and those of the Warsaw Pact.

Mr. Khrushchev seemed more energetic and rested than on his first day in Paris, and enjoyed an epicure's lunch - trout cooked in pink champagne, roast veal, mushrooms, and cheese. He took second helpings of each course.

After lunch the two Premiers and their wives sat together while enthusiastic press-photographers jostled each other, and officials, to gain vantage points from which to take pictures.

The Russian ladies attracted much attention in their own right. At Galleries Lafayette, the big Paris department store, crowds and photographers awaited them. They saw a special fashion show of garments within the price-range of French working-women and accepted presents from the management - a crystal cask for Mrs. Khrushchev and bottles of perfume for her step-daughters. As they left - 25 minutes behind schedule - sales-girls and shoppers cheered them.

In the evening Mr. Khrushchev entertained President de Gaulle and M. Debre at dinner in the Quai d'Orsay, the French Foreign Office, where the Russians are staying during their days in Paris. Reciprocating gastronomic delights of lunch-time, caviare and other Russian delicacies had been specially flown from Moscow.
