IN KUMASI, THE CAPITAL OF ASHANTI, THE CEREMONY WAS HELD AT THE FOURTH INFANTRY BATTALION'S UADDARA BARRACKS.

    THE PARADES THROUGHOUT GHANA MARKED THE VICTORY OF THE 81ST AND 82ND DIVISIONS OF THE ROYAL WEST AFRICAN FRONTIER FORGE, WHICH INCLUDED TROOPS FROM NIGERIA, GHANA -- THEN THE GOLD COAST, SIERRA LEONE AND THE GAMBIA.

    THOSE PRESENT AT THE CEREMONY INCLUDED MR. H.R. ANNAN, ASHANTI REGIONAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE, AND BRIGADIER ACQUASH, COMMANDER OF THE SECOND INFANTRY BRIGADE GROUP.

    THE BATTALION CHAPLAIN AND THE IMMAN SPOKE TO THE PARADE, CALLING ON THE SOLDIERS TO OBSERVE A MINUTE'S SILENCE FOR THOSE WHO FELL AT MYOHAUNG AND THOSE WHO SUBSEQUENTLY GAVE THEIR LIVES FIGHTING "TYRANNY AND OPPRESSION" IN GHANA.
