    THE OUTRIGHT WINNERS WERE THE GERMAN PAIR EUGEN BOHRINGER AND R.KNOLL, WHO DROVE A MERCEDES-BENZ 300-SE.THEY ALSO RECEIVED A CUP FOR THEIR CLASS AND THE TOURISM CUP.SWEDES FILLED SECOND AND THIRD PLACES, BOTH IN VOL OS.THEY WERE G.ANDERSSON(SECOND) AND C.M.SKOGH (THIRD).

    FOURTH WAS THE BRITISH PAIR H.TAYLOR AND B.MELIA, WHO DROVE A FORD CORTINA.THE WOMEN'S CUP WENT TO PAT MOSS AND ANNE RILEY, OF BRITAIN, WHOSE FORD CORTINA FINISHED SIXTH.MEDALS WERE AWARDED TO THE MOST SUCCESSFUL DRIVERS FROM EACH COUNTRY.

    ONLY 39 OF THE 73 CARS WHICH SET OFF ON MAY 16 FINISHED THE 1,800-MILE (2,850 KILOMETRES) RALLY.THEY HAD TO CONTEND WITH DRIVING RAIN, THICK MUD AND FROST-RAVAGED ROADS.
