SYNOPSIS: Lusaka Airport, Zambia -- and the arrival of Canadian External Affairs Minister, Mr Mitchell sharp, on wednesday (March 17). It was the last leg of Mr Sharp's five-nation African tour.
Among officials at the airport to meet Mr Sharp was Zambia's Foreign Minister, Mr Elijah Mudenda. Following his arrival, Mr Sharp attended a luncheon given by Mr Mudenda.
During his three-day stay, Mr Sharp was due to have talks with President Kenneth Kaunda, and visit the Victoria Falls on the Zambia-Rhodesia border. Meanwhile, in a press interview the day after his arrival, Mr Sharp denied Soviet newspaper reports that he was making the tour to dissuade African states from leaving the Commonwealth over the arms to South Africa issue. His mission, he said, was to see the results of Canadian aid to African countries.
