A group formed to investigate complaints by U.S. soldiers of violations of their constitutional rights?
A group formed to investigate complaints by U.S. soldiers of violations of their constitutional rights held a Press conference on Wednesday (11 November) in Washington to publicise a law suit they are filing against three officers of the U.S. army. Two members of the group told reporters about conditions in a correctional custody camp.
The law suit is being filed against Major-General Talbot, commanding General at Fort Benning; Colonel William Latham, commanding officer of the 197th Infantry brigade, and Sergeant James Clark, custodian of the Brigade's correction custody facility. The group also cited a list of other complaints the soldiers had, including hard labour, inadequate services and abuse.
A former prisoner, Private Jose Avecedo, complained about the conditions of soldiers in custody.
A member of the group investigating the claims, Mr. Donald Duncan, supported Private Acevedo's claims.
