Louise Underwood of Duncan--the May Queen--rules over the festivities. Native dances--and the not-so-native rock and roll--Are big attractions.

    Main drawing card: the Indian war canoe races. Entries for this event came from all over British Columbia--some even came from the Northwestern United States. But when all the shouting was over, it was a Canadian canoe from Nansimo which carted off the victor's trophy.
