    THE NEWS CAME AFTER YESTERDAY'S EMERGENCY MEETING OF NAIROBI PARLIAMENT AND SENATE REPRESENTATIVES ATTENDED BY ACTING PRIME MINISTER, MR. JOSEPH MURUMBI.

    THE NEW CRISIS CAME OVER THE CABINET'S CALL TO MR. KENYATTA IN LONDON TO BREAK OFF THE TALKS AND DECLARE KENYA INDEPENDENT ON SUNDAY RATHER THAN DECEMBER 12 AS PLANNED.

    THIS MEETING ALSO DEMANDED THE IMMEDIATE WITHDRAWAL OF BRITISH TROOPS. THERE IS ALSO A DEMAND TO GET THE ACTING BRITISH GOVERNOR, SIR ERIC GRIFFITH-JONES, OUT OF THE COUNTRY BY SUNDAY.

    DURING THE MEETING, A FORMER GOVERNOR, SIR PHILIP MITCHELL, ALSO FOUND HIS PRESENCE - IN A LARGE PORTRAIT PAINTING - OBJECTED TO AND THE PARLIAMENTARIANS TURNED HIS FACE TO THE WALL.
