    The Board of Directors of the newly-formed Ghana Bauxite Company was formally inaugurated in Accra last Monday (29 October). The new company is controlled by the Ghanaian Government which owns fifty five cent of the shares. The British Aluminium Company owns the remaining forty five percent.

    The British Aluminium Company has agreed to cease operations in Ghana as an individual company and all of its interests have been taken over by the new Company.

    The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Major-General D.C.K. Amenu, Commissioner for Lands and Mineral Resources, who pointed out that the negotiations with the British Aluminium Company were conducted in a cordial atmosphere. He asked the Board to ensure that the joint venture proves a real success for both the Government and the British Aluminium the British Aluminium Company's Division.
