  • Description

The United States Army has charged one of its generals with the murder of eight Vietnamese civilians in 1968 and 1969. The charges have been brought against Brigadier General John Donaldson, the highest ranking officer to face charges of murder in Vietnam, who is now stationed at Fort Meade, Maryland. He was a former commander of the 11th infantry Brigade in Vietnam--of the same division in which convicted mass murdered Lt. William Calley Jnr. served. General Donaldson was charged with covering up the My Lai slaying in which Calley was involved, but the accusations were later dropped. The murders with which he is now charged took place some months after My Lai.
