    Background: In the show jumping event, June 11, on the last day of the five-day "German Derby" at Hamburg, forty riders from Brazil, Britain, France, Ireland, Italy and West Germany took their horses over the 1,350-metre course which has some of the world's most difficult obstacles.

    A faultless performance in the final brought victory to Italian Captain Raimondo d'Inzeo, on 11-year-old "Posillipo". Second place was taken by Nelson Pessoa of Brazil, on "Orfeu Negro"; third by Lutz Merkel of West Germany, on "Fidelitas". West Germany's well-known Fritz Thiedemann, several times winner of the event, came fourth on "Godewind".

    Also shown of film are Lady Sarah Fitzalan-Howard of Great Britain on "Oorskiet"; Lt.-Col. Fresson of France, on "Grand Veneur"; and Captain John Brooke of Ireland, who sustained a concussion when he was by "Tyrenny".
