Background: King Moshoeshoe left Amsterdam by air last night (Thursday, December the 3rd) to return to Lesotho after living in Holland for eight months.
The 31-year-old monarch was farewelled at the airport by Dutch officials and personal friends.
He arrived in Holland on April the 4th amid rumours that he had been exiled from his country. However Lesotho representatives denied that the King was in exile.
Later, reports said that Chief Jonathan, the Prime Minister, has seized power in lesotho and accused King Moshoeshoe of alleged malpractices during the January elections. Chief Jonathan suspended the constitution, and declared a state of emergency.
In October Lesotho chiefs began arriving in Holland for talks with the King and in November chief Jonathan and the King had talks. Later Chief Jonathan announced he had reached agreement with the King on a new constitution for Lesotho. Chief Jonathan said in a radio broadcast on November the 30th that the King would take a new oath when he returned and if he failed to abide by the terms of the oath the Prime Minister might deem that he had abdicated.
