  • Description

A new magazine has been launched in Nairobi, kenya to cover the developing world of African sport.

The first issue of Africasports has just been issued and has already been enthusiastically received in Zambia, Nigeria, Malawi and Tanzania as well as Kenya.

Eventually it will be distributed all over English speaking Africa. The first issue is professionally produced, lithographically printed and has a colour cover. It covers such topics as the attempts to stop the British Lions tour of South Africa, the emergence of Zambia as a major African sporting nation, "Kenya's All Blacks", rugby players, and such sports as horse racing, athletics, rallying, soccer, netball, boxing and hockey.

Kenya's Minister for Co-operatives and Social Services, Mr. Masinde Muliro, attended a luncheon on Wednesday (17 July) held to launch the magazine. Many of Kenya's leader sports writers were also at the gathering.

The editor of Africasports, Mr. Peter Moll, told the sportswriters: "We feel sure that Africasports has a bright future. It will truly prove to be a new window on the emergent sports talent of this great continent".
